European Youth Climate Petition for more ambitious policy’s
The time is here. This summer the new president of the European Commission was appointed. Upon her appointment, we are urging her to take measures. We want a Green Deal that really is green. We demand 100% renewable energy in Europe, well before 2050. That’s why we want every EU country to close their coal fueled power plants; we want fossil fuel subsidies to stop; we demand a fair CO2-tax and we want the EU to invest in green public transport. All these measures will result in chances for economic growth and a more healthy and happy society.
Launch petition at the Sziget Festival in Budapest
Together with Rosa Anders (15), Soly co-founder Milan van der Meulen launched the Youth Climate Petition. After being introduced to the crowd by climate activist Al Gore, Milan held a speech in front of a 15.000 festival visitors. After an impressive presentation, the crowd was asked to scan a QR-code in order to sign the petition. The first couple of thousand autographs were signed within a few hours. The goal is to obtain one million autographs ahead of the day Ursula von der Leyen takes office as President of the European Commission.
