All of our CO₂ emissions are offset since our founding
We are proud to announce the launch of our CO₂ offset project. With this “Gold Standard” project we offset all 500 tons of CO₂e that we have emitted since our foundation in 2013, for example by purchasing energy at the office and through transporting our products. These are the Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions detailed in the Climate Action Report.
We have chosen to invest in the “Gigawatt Global Solar” project in the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda. This 8.5 MW project was the first commercial solar field to be built in East Africa and provides enough electricity to provide 15,000 households with green power. The project has not only increased Rwanda’s renewable generation capacity by 6%, it also generates jobs, improves education in the region and provides off-grid rural areas with access to electricity.

Offsetting all our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions since our founding is another major step towards operating completely CO₂ neutral. Due to large CO₂ reductions in factors that we can influence and by offsetting our Scope 3 CO₂ emissions caused by our suppliers, enie.nl will exceed its netzero emission target by or before 2030.
